Elberton Graniteer - Winter 2006

Garden Club Monument

EAGLE GRANITE COMPANY supplied the “Eagle Blue” granite to be transformed from a saw block into this rustic monument by Elberton-Area sculptor and stonecutter A.C. Button II. This discreet and tasteful monument revives a nearly lost art for the Spartanburg, SC, Men’s Garden Club. The stone is cut using the shell rock pitch technique, which leaves deep cups in the surface of the stone with no visible tool marks. The monument is set in the Hatcher Gardens and Horticultural Preserve in Spartanburg. It stands 3’6” tall.
